President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with incumbent president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday, October 1.
The meeting between the two was held at the president's office at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
It is also the first meeting between president Solih and Dr. Muizzu after the September 30 runoff election.
Dr. Muizzu secured a total of 129,159 votes in the runoff election, accounting for 54 percent of the votes, while president Solih, who was seeking re-election, secured 109,868 votes, which represents 46 percent of the total votes.
Executive powers are transferred to the president-elect under the specific law implemented for this purpose. This law also grants the authority to establish an interim office for governance.
