Seafarer Identity Document (SID), an identity document for seafarers have been issued to the seafarers in the country according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) regulations.
Maldives Immigration Service said that individuals who had already submitted their applications for the identity document could collect it from the first floor of Velana Building until 6:00 p.m. yesterday evening.
Individuals who have already submitted their applications for the identity document will be able to collect the document between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on all days when the office is open.
As we have started issuing Seafarer Identification Documents (SIDs), the applicants who have already submitted for the SIDs can collect them from Velaanaage 1st floor until 6 p.m. today.

Seafarers in the Maldives have voiced concerns about the non-issuance of necessary documents for the country's seamen, restricting their access to various countries since May of this year. During this period, Maldivian seafarers were unable to enter Brazil and several other countries in the Americas.
Since then, the Ministry for Transport and Civil Aviation has said that it is collaborating with Immigration to develop a seafarers' identity document that aligns with the standards accepted by ports abroad.
