Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) on Monday, May 15, announced the initiation of the installation process for night landing systems at Hoarafushi and Maavarulu airports.
According to the company, the installation process is expected to be completed within a month, and once finished, night aviation operations will commence at both airports.
While the company has started the installation of the systems in both airports, RACL recently completed the installation of the night landing system at Kulhudhuffushi Airport last week. Since then, test flight landings have been conducted at the airport.
RACL said that Kulhudhuffushi Airport will soon commence night flights, transitioning into a 24-hour operational venue.
The company further said that 24-hour operational airports alleviate challenges for customers who need to make emergency trips at night, particularly for medical or other reasons. The introduction of night aviation services will also enhance logistical operations for guesthouses and resorts located in close proximity to the airport.
In addition to the recently added Kulhudhuffushi Airport, RACL also offers night landing services at Hanimaadhoo International Airport, Faresmathoda Airport, and Fuvahmulah Airport.
