Prominent mental health services center Institute for Counseling and Psychotherapy (ICP) opened a new wing on the occasion of its eighth anniversary.
The new IPC wing, operated in the same building, comes with an occupational therapy room, two counseling rooms, consultation room, and a waiting area. The wing was inaugurated by former Minister of Gender Rashidha Yoosuf.

Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of ICP, Shidhatha Shareef said the institute has provided several services over the past eight years.
"What started as a very humble effort is now getting expanded. As we celebrate eight years of service, we have provided services across the entire country in some form or manner, and we will continue to expand our services to ensure easy access to mental healthcare for everyone," Shidhatha said.

Chairperson of ICP, Dr. Mariyam Shakeela, said the institute was established after realising the importance of private sector involvement in mental health services. She said that private institutions like ICP play a crucial role in the mental well-being of individuals, as the government alone cannot provide comprehensive solutions for mental healthcare.
The former Minister of Gender highlighted the importance of a private sector mental institution as mental health issues are increasing in the Maldives. She thanked ICP for its continued contributions in providing mental health services in the country.

ICP, a subsidiary of prominent business enterprise, SIMDI Group, was established to provide mental health services and support to patients of all age groups. The centre offers several services, including mental health assessments, therapy, and various awareness programs and training sessions on mental well-being.
