Austrian Airlines announced its plans to commence direct flights to Maldives.

Winter flights will directly connect Vienna to Velana International Airport. The airline is expected to launch three weekly flights to the island nation.

Austria is a popular tourist source market to the Maldives. The Maldives Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Immigration confirms over 17,000 tourist arrivals from the market by the end of September 2022.

Meanwhile, Austrian Airlines direct flights connecting to Maldives is expected to enhance tourist arrivals to the island nation amid the tourism peak season.
