MIFCO opens new outlet in Hulhumale' phase 2

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened a retail outlet in Hulhumale' phase 2 on September 15.

The store was officially opened by State Trading Organization (STO) Managing Director Chairman Hussain Amru at a special event.

The outlet, which offers all MIFCO products, is located on the ground floor of Hiya Housing tower 2.

In addition to canned fish, raw, chilled and frozen fish are available instoreincluding ready to eat meals like devil fish.

Amru said the main objective of opening the store is to provide easy access to the company's products for people living in the second phase of Hulhumale.

He said the MIFCO store in phase 2 will offer eight types of canned fish, six types of ready to eat meals and a large number of fish products such as raw fish, dried fish and minced fish.

“MIFCO is conducting a lot of analysis to bring more and more products to the market,” Amru said.

Amru said the newly opened shop is small in space and will be filled during the month of Ramadan hence MIFCO is in talks with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to get a good sized space in the area.

MIFCO CEO Ismail Fauzy said Hulhumale' phase 2 is a densely populated area and there is a huge market for the company. He also noted that the response to MIFCO products was evident when the store opened.

Fish products available at MIFCO outlet

"The assurance to the customers is that MIFCO's products will continue to be available in this store. We will hopefully introduce more products to the market," Fauzy said.

He said that five new products of MIFCO are already being tested for launch and Fasmeeru and Felivaru products will further be developed based on customer feedback.

With the opening of the store in Hulhumale' phase 2, MIFCO has five stores in Greater Male' area. According to the company, every outlet will offer all MIFCO products.
