Dhiraagu and Women in Tech in Maldives have concluded their "Girls in Data" program targeted towards girls.
At the ceremony held to mark the completion of the program, participants presented projects developed using the skills they had learned.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dhiraagu's Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Bishara Hameed said one of the most important objectives of the program is to create awareness about such a field among children during their early years and to build self confidence. She said the program also taught them important things that would benefit to them in the future.

President of Women in Tech, Mariyam Asna said that the participants had the opportunity to learn new things through the program. She hopes that participants grew particularly interested in data science.
Dhiraagu said that this is the first data literacy program held in the Maldives for girls. According to them, a series of similar programs will be conducted across the country.
Dhiraagu said the a total of 25 girls between the ages of 10 and 13 completed the one and a half month program which initiated on May 28.
Dhiraagu said that participants have been taught how to collect data, interpret it, and make important decisions using data. The program also carried out work on how to obtain and collect data to solve various issues.
Participants also visited the Maldives National Library and to obtain hands-on experience of work of data collection.
Dhiraagu said that since 2019, the company and Women in Tech Maldives have been conducting an annual program called "Girls to Code" to teach coding and empower girls in the technology sector.
