According to the most recent publicized update of the 'Weekly Fiscal Developments' from the Maldives Ministry of Finance, state has spent a total of MVR 2,687.7 million on expenditure requirements.
On the other hand, the year-to-date total earnings of the state by 10th February 2022 reached MVR2,599.3 million.
With expenditures floating higher than revenues earned, the state balances currently are at a deficit of MVR88.3 million.
State's major revenue comes from tax sources with GST and BPT included among the strongest contributors, and currently, the earning composition confirms that 84 percent of the total government income came from tax sources while the remaining 16 percent came from non-tax sources.
The ministry's statistics confirm that the state has earned MVR2,188.7 million in tax revenues as of 10th February and by the same review period the total non-tax revenue collection reached MVR523.2 million.
So far, the Maldives government has received MVR8.4 million in foreign grants.
