Emirates increases daily flights to Maldives

Emirates airline increased operations to Maldives for the ongoing holiday season, to meet higher passenger demand.

The flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) now operates four daily flights to the island nation, until January 31, 2021.

"The added flight will offer customers greater connectivity during the holiday season, and also re-affirms the airline’s commitment to supporting the island nation’s tourism industry", stated Emirates.

According to the airline, the fourth daily flight will depart from Dubai at 0845 hrs and arrive in Male' at 1400 hrs, local time. Meanwhile, the return flight is scheduled to depart Male' at 1545 hrs and arrive in Dubai at 1900 hrs, local time.

While the additional flight is operated as Emirates flight EK 662, it complements the airline’s 21 weekly flights which are operated by the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The airline's network connects Maldives to 100 destinations, including 31 in Europe, which is a major tourist market for the island nation.

Customers can book flights on emirates.com, at Emirates sales offices, or via travel agents.

Emirates highlighted that its booking policies offer customers flexibility to plan their travel. The airline stated that customers who purchase an Emirates ticket for travel on or before June 30, 2021,  “can enjoy generous rebooking terms and options, if they have to change their travel plans”.

Moreover, customers have options to change their travel dates, extend their ticket validity for two years, or convert their ticket into a travel voucher to use against any future flight-related purchase for themselves or their family and friends.

Emirates has also introduced the airline industry’s first, multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover, which is offered for all tickets purchased on or from December 1, 2020, at no cost to customers. This insurance also has provisions for personal accidents during travel, winter sports cover, loss of personal belongings, and trip disruptions.

Emirates customers who require a COVID-19 PCR test certificate prior to departure from Dubai, can avail of special rates at the American Hospital and their satellite clinics across Dubai by presenting their ticket or boarding pass.

Home or office testing is also available, with results in 48 hours.
