InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the largest luxury hotel and resort brands in the world, has reopened its Maldivian properties InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and Holiday in Kandooma Maldives on Tuesday.
The British hotel operator welcomed its first guests into the country with its 'IHG Clean Promise' which observes strict adherence to Health Protection Agency guidelines during the COVID-19 crisis.
According to IHG's Cluster General Manager Joseph Della Gatta, the teams behind the properties have "diligently worked throughout the recent months to ensure the health and well-being of our guests", emphasizing on the companies close relationship with global and public health officials.
IHG has expanded and developed its revamped safety protocols with the collaboration of industry experts from Ecolab and Diversey.
In order to maintain hygiene , the resorts have increased their frequency of deep cleans throughout the property, overhauled its service approach by introducing touch-less transactions and contact-less check-ins.
Domestic Transportation: Disinfection and decontamination procedures approved by the HPA will be carried out on vessels and seaplanes after every passenger disembarkation with physical distancing on board resort vessels.
Reception: Reduced contact and physical interaction with 'direct to villa' check-in and check-out, front-desk screens, sanitizer stations and sanitized keys.
Guest Room: Visible verification of sanitized items such as glassware and remote control,, reduction of in-room furnishings, new laundry protocols, utilization of newer technology.
Restaurants and Bars: Upgraded standards and service approach to dine-in and in-villa dining, including digitized menu options and assisted buffets. Social distancing will be observed during dine-in with tables spaced at least two metres apart.
Medical Assistance: Resident doctor certified on COVID-19 protocols will be available for guests, with both resorts facilitating on-site PCR testing for the requiring negative test results for their onward journey.
