Ooredoo Group extended its work-from-home policies for all employees, who are able to their duties remotely, until the end of 2020.

One of the first major companies in the region to make such a decision, Ooredoo explained that the extension was intended to cultivate a more versatile digital culture and innovative working environment.

Ooredoo's operating companies around the world will be allowed to test localised working arrangements in order to reach maximum efficiency in accordance with the regulations of countries in which they are based.

Employees and contractors can discuss a more flexible home or office-based working arrangement with their respective management.

Ooredoo's management team expressed confidence that the aforementioned "experiment" would foster the creation of a flexible and modern work culture.

The telecommunication giant expressed its aim of leveraging recently gained insights to secure a competitive advantage in the industry.

"Amid the COVID-19 situation, we are presented with a real opportunity for taking our digital transformation journey to a whole new level, which will see our company leverage digital solutions to ultimately adopt a more holistic digital culture", stated Ooredoo's Group Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani.

"This will transform the organisation and how we work. If colleagues found the combination of working off-site and socially distancing a challenge at first, we have emerged from this disruption empowered. I am both very excited and optimistic about the coming period".

Ooredoo Group stated that the supportive environment provided for employees working from home, amid restrictive measures introduced in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, could be repurposed to strengthen the company's ability to meet customer demand.

Furthermore, Ooredoo guaranteed that it would continue to operate within official public health guidelines as it seeks to cultivate and incorporate improved work practices.

The company also expressed its commitment to rigorous emergency and business continuity planning in order to facilitate operational changes in case of shifts in public health situations.

"All this requires commitment, responsibility, and accountability, but given the positive experience of the past few months, I am convinced that together we can further transform the Ooredoo culture," reflected Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani.
