Local aviation giant Mega Maldives Airlines is offering return fare of only USD 98 for its inaugural flight to Indian capital New Delhi this week.

Passengers of the first flight, scheduled for this Thursday, have the option of returning to the Maldives on either November 22 or 27.

Mega Maldives will be conducting three weekly direct flights from Maldives capital Male to New Delhi every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, the only direct flights between the two capitals to date.

Previously people travelling to New Delhi usually transited at Bangalore, which is a total route of nine hours.

“One of the fastest developing markets for the Maldives’ tourism now is India. With the start of direct flights to Delhi and Mumbai that market will skyrocket,” declared Mega Maldives’ director of strategy and development, Mifzal Ahmed.

While Mega Maldives is preparing to celebrate its fifth anniversary in December, it commenced three weekly direct flights to Sri Lankan capital Colombo this month.
