Hurawalhi Island Resort in Lhaviyani atoll boasting the world’s largest underwater restaurant will be unveiled next month.

Located a 40 minute seaplane flight away from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), the resort features 60 ocean villas and 30 beach villas, each designed with a spectacular view of either the sunrise or sunset.

According to tourism website “enjoy travelling”, the luxury property promotes an eco-friendly image with hydro technology driven water heaters, solar panels, the resort’s own water bottling plant and an in-house marine biologist. The website also disclosed that Hurawalhi is collaborating with the sea charge and preparation specialists, WiseOceans.

Hurawalhi Island Resort’s ultimate feature is the world’s largest restaurant, named “5.8 Undersea”, established in its lagoon. Boasting breath-taking sights to the marine world surrounding the island, the restaurant’s “minimalist-designed grill keeps a concentration outside; and keeps a concentration on exclusivity and remoteness – each list is set for only two”, according to the website.

The year 2016 saw a string of new resorts opened across the Maldives with Soneva Group’s second property “Soneva Jani” and “St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort” joining the most recent ranks.

Meanwhile, an additional 20 resorts is being developed to be unveiled in 2017.
