Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) commenced the final leg of the roadshow, 'Journey to the Sunny Side', in China.
The roadshow, being held in partnership with Singapore Airlines, will promote the Maldives in Beijing, Shanghai, Guanzhou and Chengdu until December 2. Lucky draw winners from each city will receive a free vacation package in Maldives, sponsored by Paradise Island Resort, Sun Island Resort, Robinson Club and Furaveri Island Resort.
Representatives from 11 local companies are taking part in the roadshow, during which they will hold presentations on Maldives and network with major Chinese tour operators.
MMPRC conducted several activities to promote Maldives' tourism in China this year. The corporation participated in the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM), which recorded over 200,000 visitors. Moreover, MMPRC held social media and digital media campaigns, and outdoor advertising activities in China, as well as invited Chinese media to the Maldives.
China is still the biggest tourism market for Maldives, with 230,349 arrivals recorded by the end of September this year. This marks a 3.7 percent increase for the same period in 2018
