The 15th instalment of the Hotel Asia Exhibition, the largest trade and hospitality expo in Maldives, kicked off in capital city Male' on Monday.
Over 150 exhibitors from 45 countries are participating in the internationally recognized exhibition at 'Dharubaaruge' convention centre.
The three-day expo scheduled to conclude on September 9, features the renowned 'International Culinary Challenge, the biggest competitive cooking event in the South Asian region. Endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), over 450 contestants compete within 22 categories as part of the highly anticipated event.
This year, 18 globally ranked chefs will judge the challenge. Headed by Alan Palmer, a veteran English chef who is an Honorary Lifetime Member of WACS with over 50 years of experience in the culinary arts, this year’s panel includes an unprecedented seven local chefs: Ishaq Solih, Aminath Shanee, Abdulla Sobah and Ahmed Fatheen, Ibrahim Nathif, Ismail Naseer and Fathimath Umar.
According to the main sponsor 'Bestbuy Maldives' (BBM)'s CEO A.V.S Subrahmanyam, the expo has continuously grown with each passing instalment.
