Maldives on Friday night kicked off the largest tourism job fair to be held in the country to date, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

The three-day job fair, organised by the Ministry of Tourism and held in Farukolhu Fushi, was inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail. The opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon and some members of the parliament.

This year's tourism job fair unveils over 500 jobs for locals in the hospitality industry, with 67 resorts in participation. According to the tourism ministry, free transfers to Farukolhu Fushi are provided at half-hour intervals from Jetty No.2 in capital Male', for those interested in visiting the fair.

Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed urged the youth to attend the fair and take advantage of the job opportunities unveiled especially for Maldivians. He assured that the fair will be held annually.

The government launched the tourism job fair in a bid to increase Maldivian presence in the hospitality industry.
