Local aviation giant Mega Maldives Airlines has also banned its passengers from taking Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones aboard all Mega aircrafts.

Mega Maldives’ ban was heralded by the national airline Maldivian’s ban on Note 7 smartphones on Tuesday.

In a travel advisory released Wednesday, Mega announced the decision to ban Samsung’s latest release from all its aircrafts following the warnings issued by Samsung and a number of national aviation regulatory bodies around the world.

The warnings were issued in light of the recent incidents of Note 7 batteries catching fire and exploding, reports of which had risen almost immediately after its launch, causing dangerous incidents including fires and burn injuries to customers.

Consequently, the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States had warned against the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7s aboard aircrafts, following which several major airlines around the world banned the smartphones.

Samsung began pulling the Note 7 phones off the market since the incidents began and has subsequently halted its production in the wake of failure to find a solution.
