Telecom giant Ooredoo Maldives announced Tuesday that the Color Run planned for Addu City will be held on June 21, in partnership with Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.

Ooredoo made the announcement at a special press conference attended by Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof, and Ooredoo Maldives' Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Najib Khan.

The popular 5K, which aims to promote running as a fun way to achieve a healthy and active lifestyle, has drawn record breaking crowds over the years. The Color Run is open for all participants above the age of six.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mahloof said, “I have had the pleasure of taking part in Ooredoo Color Run. It’s a wonderful opportunity to do something healthy, that too in an extremely joyous atmosphere. It gives me great happiness that Ooredoo Color Run will be hosted next in Addu City, and it is my sincere hope that people of all ages join the event".

"We are truly excited to host our next Color Run in Addu City, as part of our efforts to enables more communities from across the Maldives to be part of this fun filled experience. The beauty of Ooredoo Color Run is that anyone can join in, whether you’re a first time runner, an expert marathoner or anyone looking to have a great time with family and friends. We look forward to a great day in the beautiful city of Addu!", added CEO Khan.

Ooredoo Color Run is known for the burst of colour powder with which participants are rewarded at each kilometre mark. Ooredoo further noted that, as the run is not a timed event, participants can "choose to walk, jog, run or dance to the finish line", where they are greeted with colour throws, finisher medals and a music show.

The colour run also features fun awards for the Most Entertaining Runner and the Runner with the Best Costume, along with special prizes for the winners.

Ooredoo stated that registrations for the Color Run in Addu will be opened soon, through the My Ooredoo portal. The company will release further information via the Ooredoo Maldives website and its social media channels.
