Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has initiated the testing phase for card payments for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) bus service.
The trial run for the service will run on the first two days of January, in Malé City.
MTCC said that during the test round, payments can be made using the contactless master cards and visa card machines on the buses.
Malé bus rides cost MVR 7. Currently, only the bus card or an online portal system can be used to make payments.
MTCC operates mini-buses in Malé, Laamu atoll, Addu and Fuvahmulah. The RTL ferry service, which was initiated to connect the entire country through a transportation system, also became operational in five atolls in the north this year.
