The 31-year-old woman from Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo has passed away while undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on March 31.
She was one of two victims severely burned in a fire that broke out in a residence in Rasdhoo last Monday.
The couple suffered burns covering 80-90 percent of their bodies and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to family members, doctors had expressed little hope for their recovery.
The man involved in the incident remains in the ICU receiving treatment.
The couple has a five-year-old child.
In an effort to assist with their treatment, Dr. Shailesh V Ranade, a burns and plastic surgeon from India's Bhatia Hospital in Mumbai, arrived in the Maldives on Thursday. The hospital confirmed that the victims were receiving treatment based on his advice and consultation.
