A fire broke out in a residential home in Feydhoo of Addu City, on Sunday night.
The police said that they received the incident report at around 7:30 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire.
According to Mohamed Faisal, the Feydhoo councillor in the Addu City Council, the fire broke out in a separate apartment within the grounds of a home in the Maldives' southernmost city.
The fire was extinguished with assistance from the police, MNDF, and some civilians.
Faisal said that the whole apartment had completely burned down.
According to a local, an electrical short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. No one was in the apartment at the time of the incident, they said.
