Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on Tuesday night revealed that a fire occurred aboard an oil boat docked at Vilimale'.
MNDF stated that the fire, reported at 22:40, went on to spread onboard a second vessel also docked at the island's harbour.
According to local media outlet Mihaaru, MNDF further stated that the flames were extinguished within an hour after it erupted at approximately 22:30.
Six individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment following the incident. MNDF has not revealed any information concerning the extent of their injuries.
MNDF media officer Major Ibrahim Azim disclosed to Mihaaru that all crew members of the oil boat were now accounted for despite one employee was initially reported missing.
On September 30, a fire at T Jetty in the capital city of Male' injured nine individuals and incurred losses of approximately MVR 4 million.
A similar incident occurred early September when a boat docked at Male' North Harbour caught fire, resulting in various crew members suffering injuries. Six individuals were treated at IGMH regarding the incident.
