A cargo boat travelling to Male' from Thilafushi collided a safari boat, and sunk on Wednesday.
The cargo boat was making the trip laden with wood in its storage.
Marine Police said they received the report of the accident around 11:20 a.m.. The accident occurred between the cargo vessel Huvandhumaa 2 and the safari boat Yasawa Princess.
Huvandhumaa 2 is a boat owned by Timber House, a wood importer to Maldives. The boat had sunk a great deal due to the damages from the accident. Marin police says it has now been brought to the T-Jetty area in Male'.
The photos of the accident circulating online shows the wood the boat was transporting floating away as well. As the wooden planks are floating in the sea between Male' and Vilimale', marine police has urged marine vessels to be cautious while travelling the area.
No person was injured in this accident.
