In the Golden Futsal Challenge, reigning champion of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, Kanduhulhudhoo, has lost to Gemanafushi with a score of 1-2.
Kanduhulhudhoo took the lead in the first half through a goal shot by Ahmed Umar Abdulla. Gemanafushi's Ahmed Sham equalized the score as the match neared its end.
Gemanafushi came to win the match when, in the final minutes of the match, Kanduhulhudhoo's Ahnaf Zahir shot an own goal.
In last year's atoll finals, Kanduhulhudhoo had won against Gemanafushi through a penalty shootout.
Also in the group are Nilandhoo and Dhaandhoo. The match between them was won by Dhaandhoo with a 2-1 score. Both of Dhaandhoo's goals were scored by Mohamed Azaan Ma'aadh. Nilandhoo's goal was shot by Hussain Nihad.
Group B of this atoll saw Dhevvadhoo defeat Vilin'gili last night with a score of 6-1. Ahnaf Rasheed from Dhevvadhoo scored three goals, with Ahmed Rahil Rasheed, Aiman Thaufeeq and Shifaz Adil each also scoring a goal. Vilin'gili's sole goal was shot by Ausham Rashad.
Also in this group, Maamendhoo won against Kolamaafushi 2-1. Maamendhoo won though goals shot by Shamweel Mohamed and Rauhan Riffath, while Muhulis Najeeb scored Kolamaafushi's goal.
Tonight's matches will feature teams from Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu atoll.
