The 19 year old victim in the accident which occurred between a Police car and a motorcycle on December 26 last year has been taken to India for further treatment.
Since the day of the accident, the victim had been receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, after which he was taken for treatment at the Deco Chamber at ADK Hospital. After 20 days there, he was transferred to the HDU in IGMH.
A brother of the victim told Mihaaru News that a neurologist consulted at IGMH advised neuro-rehabilitation, but the service is not available locally.
Due to this, the family applied for Aasandha support, on confirmation of which the victim was taken to Amrita Hospital in India last Thursday.
The youth still remains unconscious, the family said.
"Now, with physiotherapy being given everyday, we also see that his movements have improved. Previously he was connected to machines for monitoring, but now the doctors and nurses visit every three hours to monitor his condition," he said.
Previously, physiotherapy was also provided thrice a week.
The brother also cited the hospital as saying efforts will be made from tomorrow onwards to have the victim regain consciousness.
"We are seeing his condition improve day by day."
