Male' City Council has awarded a contract to demolish the current stage at Alimas Carnival and construct a modern new stage at a cost of MVR 4.8 million.

The contract was awarded to UH Investment Pvt Ltd on Friday, with a project completion deadline set for the end of July this year, giving the company 140 days to complete the work.

The council first announced plans to demolish and replace the Alimas Carnival stage on December 5 last year.

The existing stage, built in 2004 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Majeedhiyya School, has been in a state of disrepair.

Sharing a preview of the new design, Malle' City Mayor Adam Azim stated that the long-neglected stage will soon be transformed into a "state-of-the-art" structure.
