Over 2,200 guests have visited the largest trade fair in the Maldives, Hotel Asia Exhibition, by the end of Tuesday, declared the event’s organiser.
The two-day Hotel Asia Exhibition which kicked off on Monday was organised by Maldives Exhibition and Conference Services (MECS). This is the twelfth year of the fair with 175 participants from local and international companies.
An official of MECS told Mihaaru that receiving over 2000 visitors over two days was a great success and indicative of the Maldives’ tourism industry’s recognition of this exhibition.
“Around a thousand people visited [the fair] even on the first day, eighty percent of whom are connected to resorts and businesses,” said the official. “This is not a common exhibition, but it is entirely open to the public.”
The official went on to say that participants of the fair were also satisfied with the amount of support received.
“We’re able to carry this out so successfully due to the great assistance of our main sponsor (Best Buy Maldives Pvt Ltd). In general, everything turned out very well.”
The official added that MECS is contemplating to rent an additional hall of Dharubaaruge convention centre, where Hotel Asia Exhibition is usually hosted, for 2017’s fair based on the success of this year’s exhibition.
The fair, which ends Wednesday, features the renowned International Culinary Challenge in addition to special seminars, international entities for discussion and exchange of ideas, and a panel of trade industry veterans.
Innovations introduced in this year’s fair include materials for resort suites, appliances for laundry, air conditioning and catering, as well as gardening tools, furniture, waste disposal machines and state-of-the-art security systems.
Meanwhile, the International Culinary Challenge this year features around 500 contenders from 75 companies.
