MET predicts surge waves, issues White Alert

MET Office has issued a White Alert for a large part of the country, predicting surge waves.

MET Office stated that swell wave surges are expected, with the White Alert issued from Kaafu Atoll to Addu City from 11:30 hrs to 15:30 hrs today.

According to the MET Office, central and southern Maldives will see high tides between 12:00 hrs and 13:30 hrs, and again between 00:00 hrs tonight and 02:00 hrs.

Wave heights are expected to be between 3 to 6 feet.

While fine weather is expected over the country, winds are southwest/westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Southern atolls experienced surge waves yesterday as well, including Fuvahmulah and Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadehdhoo.
