No confidence motion against Ihusan fails with 64 votes against

The Parliament, which has a ruling People's National Congress supermajority, has voted against passing the no confidence motion against Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan.

The Parliament, which has a ruling People's National Congress supermajority, has voted against passing the no confidence motion against Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan.

The no confidence motion against Ihusan was submitted by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) MPs.

In parliament today, 11 MDP MPs voted in favour of the no-confidence motion, while 64 PNC MPs voted against passing it.

To pass a no confidence motion, a minimum of 47 votes are needed. MDP only has twelve sitting MPs in parliament this term.
