President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have today returned to Maldives after completing their first official State visit to India.

The President travelled to India on a special flight arranged for the official visit as per traditions by the Government of India.

In the visit, undertaken on invitation from India's President Droupadi Murmu, President Muizzu visited three cities in India.

The President's first destination in India was Delhi, where he was given an official welcoming ceremony with a twenty one gun salute at the Presidential Palace, Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The President also had an audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prior to this, he also met with India's Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The President and First Lady then traveled to Agra, where they visited the Taj Mahal.

On Tuesday, the President went to Mumbai, where events were held to promote tourism and trade in the Maldives. Many famous Bollywood names also attended the event, with the President extending invitations to them to film Bollywood movies in the Maldives.

Lastly, President Muizzu traveled to Bangalore yesterday. In Bangalore, the President met with business leaders in a dedicated forum.

During the trips to the cities, the President also met with Maldivians residing in India.

The President described the visit as extremely successful.
