President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that the immense responsibility of governing far exceeds any perceived gains or prestige associated with the position.

Speaking at the Republic Day ceremony, President Muizzu reminded the public that Republic Day is a celebration of the people and a testament to the government’s commitment to serving them.

The President emphasized his dedication to governance that aligns with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohamed.

He also highlighted his father's publication, "The State, Leaders, Responsibility and the Meaning of Obedience", which serves as a guiding framework for his leadership.

Quoting from the book, President Muizzu said, “The head of state or president is a trustee, entrusted by the people to look after their interests for a certain period. He is a lawyer, a servant. Therefore, this should be evident in all his actions and dealings. The people, who are the true owners of the country, should not be humiliated or enslaved, nor should they consent to such treatment.”

The President reaffirmed that this principle has been central to his administration’s actions.

He said that his government has focused on listening to the people, marking an end to the era of persecuting political rivals. In line with this, he announced that he would refrain from establishing new commissions, and instead address issues through established systems.

President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people, reflecting on his first 51 weeks in office. he said that the coming years would be driven by continued commitment to good governance for the benefit of the people.
