The Norwegian tourist did not return to his home country after his visa expired and had continued to live and work in the Maldives.
A tourist who overstayed his visa has been deported from the Maldives.
Maldives Immigration announced last night that the Norwegian tourist arrived in the country on December 20 of last year.
However, he did not return to his home country after his visa expired and continued to live and work in the Maldives.
The tourist was taken into custody by Immigration on July 25, with the assistance of the police.
"He has now been deported for violating immigration law," Immigration said.
Maldives Immigration is actively identifying and taking action against undocumented individuals living in the Maldives and those involved in visa fraud.
