In the incident that occurred yesterday, the man arrested has been identified as Hassan Isaam, 30, of Fiyabari, ViliMale'.
Videos circulating on social media show that the woman had been driving down the road when a motorist rode up from behind and snatched her necklace. The video shows that this left the woman in shock. She dropped her motorcycle and runs away to get away from the assailant.
The man had been wearing a helmet to conceal his identity.
The video shows that after snatching the necklace, the man stops his motorcycle and runs towards the woman. This time, he appears to be trying to snatch the woman's handbag. He, however, flees the scene when crowds start to gather.
He was arrested late yesterday afternoon.
