The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has decided not to accept courses and qualifications from 101 institutions that have failed to re-register under the Higher Education and Training Act.

In an announcement by MQA, it stated that higher education and training centers can only operate after registering with the Ministry of Higher Education.

The authority said that since 101 institutions have not re-registered to date, the ministry has sent a list of these institutions to MQA.

Therefore, MQA announced that since these colleges and institutes have not re-registered, they will no longer recognize the previously approved programs from these institutions.

"We hereby announce that under Article 21(b) of the Higher Education and Training Act, this Authority will not recognize programs that were previously approved and conducted by 101 institutions not registered on the Ministry's registry (Registry of Colleges and Institutes) of Higher Education, Skills and Vocational Development," the announcement stated.

Although the approval for these programs will not be recognized starting today, MQA said they will continue to recognize certificates of students who have already completed these programs and whose batch audits have been submitted to MQA so far.

Along with the announcement, MQA has also published a list of the 101 institutions whose certifications will be recognized. This includes diving institutes, Quran classes, the Maldives Cabin Crew Academy, Glonet, cooking courses, and various training centers.
