The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has completed the asphalt laying from Billabong International High School to Ghiyasuddin International School in Ameenee Magu.
Asphalt laying in the zone, dubbed segments 8 and 9 by the road developer was completed recently. RDC is actively working to open these completed areas to the public before the start of the Academic New Year on August 6.
“Asphalt laying began some time on Tuesday night and was completed some time during Wednesday,” RDC said.
The segments are considered high-traffic areas due to their proximity to various establishments, including restaurants, public offices, two international schools, and faculties of the Maldives National University (MNU).
RDC will next begin laying asphalt from Iskandhar Koshi (IK), the police barrack, up to Dhiraagu Head office, located at the western end of the road.
The government has allocated MVR 84 million for the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu, the second busiest road in Malé City. The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has announced that the project, which began its physical works in October 2022, is scheduled to conclude by September, 2023.
