Experienced technical official and Secretary General of Maldives Athletics Association, Ahmed Munthaqim has been elected into his fifth term in the post.
Secretary General at Athletics Association of Maldives, Ahmed Munthaqim has been re-elected for the position once again.
The international technical official Munthaqim has been elected to manage the association as its leader for a fifth consecutive term.
Munthaqim, who had recently competed for the position of President of the Maldives Olympics Committee is renown across South Asia as one of the most experienced technical officials of the region.
Munthaqim was also awarded the certification for World Athletics International Referee and has extensive experience serving as a technical official for various international games and competitions.
He was one of the two officials selected from South Asia by the South East Asian (SEA) Games Federation for the SEA Games held in Vietnam in 2022. He also served as the highest technical official of Athletics at the South Asian Games 2019 held in Nepal. The same year, Munthaqim performed as the athletics referee at multiple events of the Youth Championships held in Hong Kong.
In addition to regional games, Munthaqim has served as a technical referee at several other international games as well.
The position of Chef de Mission for the Maldivian contingent at the recent Olympics Games held in Tokyo was also filled by Munthaqim.
