Former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has left the Jumhooree Party (JP).
Ali Waheed posted on X last night, highlighting that working with Qasim Ibrahim, a recipient of the Order of Distinguished Rule of Muleege was a valuable experience.
He said that even though he left the Jumhooree Party on Wednesday, he will remain as part of the people of the Maldives.
Ali Waheed was appointed as Special Advisor to Qasim, as well as his Election Agent for the presidential election held on September 9.
Ali Waheed previously served as President of the JP. He lost the post due to an amendment brought to the party's constitution.
Although Ali Waheed moved away from Qasim who secured 5,460 votes in the first round of the presidential election, it is not yet clear whether he will join another party.
