A video circulating on social media shows a motorcycle speeding and driving over the head of a fallen accident victim as he was attempting to get back up.
At around 8:19am on Saturday, an accident occurred on the Sinamale' Bridge Highway where a motorcycle crashed into a traffic cone placed on the highway to indicate ongoing work on the solar panels fixed at the side of the road.
The victim of the accident, a Bangladeshi man, passed away on the same day while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
At the time, Police said that the man had died through injuries sustained in the accident.
The video now seen on social media, however, shows that the man had been attempting to get up after he had been thrown from the motorcycle on hitting the traffic cone. Just seconds later, a speeding motorcycle runs him over, on his head, leading to him collapsing back on the road.
The second motorcycle sped away from the scene, despite having run over the man's head.
When asked about this, a Police Media Official told Mihaaru that the motorist on the second motorcycle was a 60 year old woman. She has now been questioned, her licence seized and the motorcycle towed.
No further details were disclosed.
Police said that they are investigating the incident further.
