The government has said today that no social media platforms will be blocked in Maldives.
President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed addressed rumors that TikTok and X were being considered for a ban, calling the claims baseless.
She said that no discussions have been held regarding the blocking of any social media platforms.
"The government has not decided to block any social media platform. It has not discussed such a move," Heena stated.
Heena also reaffirmed that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's vision is to uphold the broadest possible scope of fundamental rights and freedoms, within the limits of the Constitution.
