Over 54,000 people visited Kudagiri in two years: HDC

The island, designed to accommodate 500 to 600 visitors daily, features water sports facilities, a mosque, a clinic, shops, private rooms, changing rooms, and event rental options.

More than 54,000 people have visited Kudagiri Picnic Island since its opening in February 2023, according to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

HDC Managing Director Mauroof Jameel, Chairman Ahmed Nasif, and board members visited the island yesterday to inspect operations and oversee a tree-planting program addressing concerns over the lack of shade trees.

Customer satisfaction with Kudagiri’s services stands at over 70 percent, HDC said.

The island, designed to accommodate 500 to 600 visitors daily, features water sports facilities, a mosque, a clinic, shops, private rooms, changing rooms, and event rental options.

To improve accessibility, HDC has opened an information counter in Hulhumale' to facilitate travel and booking.

From April, Kudagiri’s service hours will be extended to 11:30 pm to allow for more events.

Additionally, plans are underway to build a dive center in partnership with Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to attract more visitors.

Kudagiri is accessible via ferry from both Male' and Hulhumale', with a travel time of approximately one hour.
