Police have placed State Minister at Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem under arrest on charges of sorcery, and are currently conducting a criminal investigation into the matter.

Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan confirmed today that an investigation is being conducted into charges against Shamnaz and two other individuals.
Police said that the three individuals were arrested on Sunday, with the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court placing them in remand in custody for seven days while the investigation continues.
However, Police declined from revealing any details regarding the case.
Meanwhile, Mihaaru reports that a source from the Police informed them that the charges against Shamnaz are of having committed sorcery.
Shamnaz is the former wife of Minister at President's Office Adam Rameez. No charges have been raised against Rameez in relation to this case.
Shamnaz earlier served as a member of the Male' City Council. She resigned from that post after President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office, following which she was appointed to a post at the Official Residence of the President, Muleeaage.
Shamnaz was later transferred to the post of State Minister.
