73 year old man arrested over sexual abuse allegations

A man from central Maldives has been arrested over sexual abuse allegations.

Police said they had received reports of a 16 year old girl being abused from one of the islands belonging to Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, or Vaavu atoll. Due to Maldives' child protection laws, any information that can identify minors involved in such crimes cannot be publicized.

A 73 year old man has been arrested in connection to this case.

A 60 year old man was arrested on Monday over sexual abuse allegations as well. He had allegedly abused a 13 year old child.
