Dead body recovered from Male’ City lagoon

A dead body was found underwater in Malé City’s lagoon off the shore of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Friday morning.

According to Maldives Police Service, the deceased was a 31-year-old Maldivian male.

The dead body was reported to the authorities at around 1040 hrs, after it was found by a group of divers.

Authorities have since transferred the body to IGMH. Experts at the hospital declared that the cause of death was inconclusive.

Due to this, police stated that preparations are underway to conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

The body is currently at the mortuary.
