Two men have been arrested from a drug cafe' in Male' City.
Hussain Niyaz (35) and Abdullah Jinah (28), were arrested in the case and have been remanded in custody for seven days by the Criminal Court.
The court order said that the men were arrested from a cafe' style drug dealing establishment. Drugs were discovered from the location, and urine tests were conducted on both men.
Criminal Court Judge Sofwath Habeeb ruled that the arrests were carried out in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Cafe' style drug dealing establishments are a growing issue in Male'. Police have conducted several raid operations in the past to address the problem.
Earlier in June, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology reported that over 50 drug dens, including some within old government buildings now currently not in use, were operating in Male'.
