The main expatriate behind Malé City's Artificial Beach scuffle is in the process of being deported, said Maldives Immigration.
The agency said that the man who was in charge of the fight that threatened the public safety in the Artificial Beach area on the 6th of this month has been identified with the assistance of Maldives Police Service and taken into custody.
The individual has been identified as 25 year old Amrit Singh, immigration confirmed.
A large number of people were gathered at the Artificial Beach that evening when the clash broke out between several Indian expatriates. They attacked each other and fought, creating an unsafe environment.
One of the rioters hit a child in the area at the time as well, which led the child's parent to report the incident to the police. However, the individuals who were involved in the fight left the area by the time police arrived.
