President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who took the oath of office on Friday, November 17, met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe last evening.
During the meeting held at Kurumba Maldives with the Sri Lankan President, who visited the Maldives to attend Dr. Muizzu's swearing-in ceremony, the two leaders highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between their countries. They also discussed way to strenghten this relationship in the future, the President's Office said.
The two Presidents discussed key priorities of both countries, including education, streamlined visa processes for Maldivian students under the age of 18 studying in Sri Lanka, and economic development.
President Muizzu said that the arrival of Sri Lankan President Ranil for the swearing-in ceremony in the Maldives reflects the close ties between the two nations.
According to the President's Office, President Muizzu accepted President Ranil's invitation to make an official visit to Sri Lanka at an opportune time.
