Maldives will be hosting three roadshows as part of the country's tourism destination promotions in India.
Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal departed to India today to participate in Maldives' efforts to promote tourism in India titled Welcome India Roadshow 2024 which is being held in New Delhi.
This roadshow is part of the country's efforts to pick up the Indian market which saw a decline in recent times.
According to last year's tourism statistics of Maldives, India was the top source market for the country with over 200,000 arrivals. However nearly seven months into this year, the number stands at only 71,000 at the moment, being ranked sixth on the list of top markets.
Last month, Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operations (MATATO), Guest House Association and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) announced collaborations on three main roadshows to be held in India.
While the first event will be held in New Delhi, the other two will take place in Bangalore and Mumbai, with the aim of increasing inbound tourists.
The roadshows, which will also see the participation of local resorts, guesthouses, safaris and tour operators will showcase the various travel packages and important information related to the industry.
Additionally, Indian tour operators will also take part in the events.
