Police have stated today that the bodies of the two victims who died in the gas cylinder explosion in Haa Dhaalu Makunudhoo have been sent to their families in India.
The victims of Saturday's deadly explosion were Mohamed Raja Ansari, 27, and Sudira Sethi, 25, both from India. While witnesses claim the explosion caused tremors on the islands, the bodies of both victims were mutilated beyond recognition.
Police said that the body parts were initially brought to Male' for investigative purposes, and had then been sent to India on Tuesday.
The victims were employees of Big Fish company which is working on land reclamation for airport development in the island.
Police and MNDF are currently conducting investigations into the cause of the explosion.
