Zakat House had assured that Fitr Zakat can be contributed until the last day of Ramadan through Bandeyri Pay. Furthermore, the Islamic Center hall has been established to offer settlement of Zakat to senior citizens as well as other individuals unfamiliar with the procedures of online payments.

Owing to the last ten days of Ramadan being determined as public holidays, the Ministry has arranged specific timings for collecting Zakat during these ten days.

Timings for accepting Zakat

- Morning 09:30 hrs to 13:00 hrs in the afternoon on formal non-holiday weekdays

- Morning 11:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs in the afternoon on the last 10 days of Ramadan excluding weekends

Zakat House had highlighted that Zakat acceptance arrangements in islands will be organized by the island councils.

While the amount of Fitr Zakat has been determined as 2.4 kilograms of rice per head, this Zakat should be settled with the variety of rice most commonly used by the payee throughout the year. The fundamental variety of rice grains costs MVR 12 while Thailand rice observes a higher fee of MVR 70, much like Basmati Rice.

Island Councils will accept Fitr Zakat from local citizens under the rate of 2.4 kilos of rice purchasable from the island.

Last year, over MVR 9 million was received as Fitr Zakat.
