Youth Ministry signs with HDC for youth apprenticeship program

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment signs with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for a new youth apprenticeship program.

Minister of Youth Mr. Ahmed Mahloof signed on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the partnership on behalf of the ministry while HDC Managing Director Mr. Suhail Ahmed signed on behalf of the corporation.

The MoU was signed on Wednesday morning, 27th April, at the premises of HDC.

HDC is set to conduct professional development training for youths under the apprenticeship program which will run for six months.

Under the program, youths will be trained in the areas of welding, electric works, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, gardening, heavy vehicle operations as well as refrigeration and air-conditioning repairs, construction site supervisor training and assistant building maintenance training.

This marks the fifth apprenticeship program by Housing Development Corporation which is focused on 30 employees of HDC and 100 local participants.

The programs will adhere to National Competency Standards of the National Skills Development Authority, with the completion of program ensuring a level 3 certificate to participants.
